This is a Federation of organisations representing the interests of environment & health protection professionals in all corners of the World. It was formed in 1986 and currently has 31 organisations in full membership, with another 41 organisations as associate members, in total representing around 50,000 professionals. Its principal aims include the protection of public health and the environment; promotion of better health, education and understanding of the environment; encouraging exchange of information & experience; advocating research; fostering understanding, mutual support and personal contact; and co-operation with other international organisations. The Federation is governed by a Council which meets annually and, in recognition of the different priorities in different parts of the World, has a regional framework, with separate forums for Africa, The Americas, Europe and The Pacific Rim.
